Pet and Animal Photography

Kintyre Photo is the name of the business and this web site and it is run by Tove Knight. I have lived on Kintyre for nearly 10 years - after many years in the oil industry and running my own business.  

Photography has always been one of my main interests and with the development of digital photography I have concentrated more time on developing the skills this new technology demands.

I have always had a passion for animals, in particular dogs and horses. Photographing animals is great fun and gives me so much pleasure. It is not easy as you want to capture both the animal's character and mood. Each photographic session with an animals, be it a dog, cat, horse or rabit, is a one-off situation; the  aim is very much to capture each animal's unique characteristics. This means that the setting has to be carefully chosen to reflect and compliment the animal's personality. The photographer has to interact and communicate with the animals and provide a stress free environment in order to get the best results. It also has to be safe, relaxed and fun!

Working with dogs and other animals on a daily basis has certainly been very helpful to me as a photographer as it deepens the understanding of  their personality and behaviour.

What we can do

Any photographic session is tailor-made to suit your requirements. It will normally take place in your home or garden or perhaps at another location of your choice; where the animals are happy and relaxed. They can be indoor portraits using studio lighting (not requiring much space) or photos taken in the environment showing the animal doing what they do best; splashing in the sea, resting on a chair, jumping over puddles. You know your own animal better than anyone and what they like (and don't like!) doing. 

Fees are typically £65 which includes a photo session lasting approximately 1 1/2 to 2 hours (including setting up and taking down any equipment). The price includes use of professional lighting and one 25cm x 20cm (10"x8") colour print in a mount and two 15cm x 10cm (6"x4") colour prints of your chosen photo. The fee includes travelling 30 miles from Clachan, Kintyre. 

You will be sent a set of contact prints, or if you prefer, you can access the photos on this website to make your choice. The selected photos will then be prepared to your requirements, for example in black & white or a larger (poster) size. Frames are also available from £15.

Additional prints can be ordered separately and other products are available such as Photographs printed on Canvass, T-shirts, Notebooks and Mugs with the picture printed. I can also arrange to have your chosen photograph printed on a spare wheel cover - for everybody to admire! Please ask for details.

Cost of additional prints is from £5 for a 15cm x 10cm (6"x4"); £20 for a 25cm x 20cm (10"x8"); £25 for a A4 size and £35 for a  A3 size (16"x11").
